I wanna carry the complexity
uncover every truth clairvoyantly
leave every trace with adequacy
and they set fire to my head just to inhale the smoke
absorbing fragments of a flawed whole
leave me behind with my own ashes and bitter hopes
a mere conduit for their souls
I hear them calling out but it's too late
"doubt is worthless, the weak ones hesitate"
watching their spirits suffocate
Your advice for me to chew on I hope you choke on
I hope you choke on your words
As you watch my art get angry
you'll know the reason
I'm only seconds away from forever leaving this place
next time we meet I'll wear a different face
You pulled my strings while smiling sheepishly
rubbing your childish demeanor off on me
your lifelong act of self-deceit

I thought that we were stuck in this together
a few feet deep but you're a drag towards the earth.
I forgot how we made this connection,
a thread so thin and yet we pulled until it dug into our calloused hands,
your fingernail in my coffin.
It's like we've always been distant, like we never met,
afraid of freezing with eye contact,
we're drifting further apart yet I still feel you here,
yet I still feel you here, yet I still feel you here.
You said you buried my demons face-first in the dirt,
the moment I turned around I choked, you tried to let them go.
It was too late to see you're not worth it.
We were vibrant, a pulse with a fixed end
nourished or barely kept alive by circumstance.
In a moment of disruption, let it run its course,
step back and let it go.
I've put up with my apathy for far too long,
you're heading home, you were there, now you're here while I'm gone.
My skin is translucent and you have become
a stranger with weakening eyesight at 21.
Is it fair to leave in jealousy or cold-hearted naivety?
Should we cherish every memory? Maybe, but
this time we'll let it go.
